In contrast to the tetris blocks of traditional multifamily architecture, this structure harmonizes both the unity of the whole and the articulation of its individual units. Born from a yield study for an underutilized, infill project, the design explores asymmetries in order to strike a balance through dynamic form and interwoven materials.

With a sculptural roofline, the architectural form and materials interact to create an animated brick ribbon, interrupted only by large applied windows. Above and below this ribbon, the interstitial spaces also maximize both beauty and function. From layered landscape walls to the rooftop gardens, the resulting structure achieves an equilibrium calibrated to optimize life in a busy metropolis.
