The parcel for this building is a typical holiday spot, located in a woodlands area with a shoreline. The proposed architecture of the building incorporates features of the traditional houses of Warmia region, and a more contemporary material solutions with few inspirations from Scandinavian architecture.
The functional programme of the building is supposed to serve a three person family, with additional temporary guests. Layout of the rooms is clearly divided into day and night zones by vertical placement on different floors. Although the building is summer house, the programme was thought out as to be easily transformed into a single-family, yearfull house. The main living area is organized around a fireplace, and opens to the adjoining external terrace. A view on the lake dominates.
The building was designed in light wooden framework technology, with a balloon framing due to high knee wall of the attic. Its exterior walls are clad with vertical profiled spruce boards, while the roof is covered with clay tiles.
Since the location is often exposed to strong winds from the lake, and also because of the periodical use, the building envelope is highly insulated, reaching U-value of 0,15 W/m²·K.
