About STUDIOCAHS: 

StudioCAHS is a small architectural design firm with a presence in NY and London. Founded in 2019 by Caterina Heil Stewart, the firm’s suite of capabilities is guided by craftsmanship, personalization, preservation, and conservation when possible. At its core is an emphasis on the value of time, material, visual movement, and harmony, as well as a commitment to composing spaces and curating furniture pieces that stand the test of time. 

About the Role: 

The Studio Manager’s responsibilities will span those of traditional office administration, finance, human resources, and business development. Our current team is looking for someone who can aid in not just building but maintaining internal organization. The Studio Manager will be able to identify the areas of need and lead efforts in creating systems and processes. The ideal candidate will also have had experience expanding and managing an architectural or design studio prior.

Responsibilities: 

LEADERSHIP QUALITIES

  • Supportive team leadership and engendering a positive, enthusiastic and constructive process

  • Able to bring out the best in the team, and allow them to ease towards clear goals

  • Train staff in presentation techniques and detail studies including 3D sketch and modeling techniques

  • Work closely with the principal and project managers to monitor contract performance, from initial statement-of-work through completion

  • Organized individuals that pay close attention to detail and work effectively in a fast-paced environment

  • Have a moderate understanding and knowledge of design and construction techniques as it relates to interior design

STRATEGIC

  • Back-end account and procurement management including logging, tracking, receiving and invoicing

  • Handle operation-related duties including staffing, basic bookkeeping\

  • Support press inquiries and collaborate with an external press team

  • Create marketing collateral

  • Maintain and organize company shared server

  • In charge of the general studio environment, including but not limited to: sample library, equipment, supplies, etc.

  • In charge of inventory including warehouse management, system archiving and monitoring

  • Manage office calendar and appointments for team members

  • Coordinate travel arrangements for the principal and team members, as needed

  • Aid client service front in general inquiries and non-design related communication support

  • Assist team of photoshoot and on-site installations

GENERAL DESIGN PRACTICE

  • Create and train the organization on interior design standards and policies

  • Improving internal systems while coordinating with the principal

  • Work closely with the controller and principal in staffing projects, identifying new employee needs, and keeping projects within staffing budgets

Key Attributes: 

  • Over 5 years of experience in administrative/ operation management role (within an architectural or design firm preferred)

  • Driven, detail-oriented, professional, and organized

  • Demonstrated strategic approach to design management

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent teamwork skills

  • Experience with common industry software applications such as Google Suite, Microsoft Office and Asana

  • Self-motivated; Willing to support and assist; Solution-seeker; Self-starter 

  • Ability to work collaboratively with the principal, designers, and clients

  • Strong writing skills (narratives, strategy, meeting minutes, proposals, etc.)

  • Ability to read and interface with the firm's primary accounting reports

  • Tracking and managing project permits and insurances

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in relevant field - Master’s degree a plus.

  • Full-time, in-office position (5 days a week)
