We are seeking a talented and passionate Design Manager with at least 7 - 10 years of design experience to join one of our architectural studios. This position will reinforce team standards at the Project Team level ensuring high-quality design work that aligns with the Workshop/APD brand. They will ideally have managerial experience and a desire to mentor and train junior team members. The Design Manager will report to both the Design Director and Managing Director.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Efficiently lead and oversee the Project Team through design process
  • Motivate team to complete deliverables and ensure team has a clear understanding processes and deadlines. 
  • Act as a mentor, delegate tasks and provide guidance and training to junior Project Team members. 
  • Develop and execute architectural and interior design across all project phases in accordance with Workshop/APD vision and in conformance with brand standards.
  • Has a People First and growth team skill set
  • Can effectively create narrative based design concepts that continually push Workshop/APD to the next level. 
  • Effectively manage team to meet fee budgets, designing and delivering projects to client budgets, and communicating project schedules and hitting deadlines. 
  • Providing documentation that fulfills QA/QC procedures to facilitate design excellence in collaboration with the Project Management team. 
  • Create professional relationships with clients and actively fulfill their needs during the project, leading to referrals and recommendations for additional work. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 7 - 10 years of work experience in the Architecture/Interior Design industry, particularly in commercial or hospitality design.
  • Bachelor of Architecture/Interior Design Degree.
  • Proficient in digitally reviewing and editing technical/design documents.
  • Ability to coordinate project reviews and documentation through digital platforms. 
  • AutoCAD, REVIT, Enscape, Rhino, Bluebeam, Sketchup (a plus), Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office Suite.
