The Opportunity

We are seeking a super sharp, dynamic go-getter to join our team.

As Manager of Business Development you will report to the Executive Director of Marketing & Partnerships, and be responsible, alongside the Leadership team, for driving A+I’s business development efforts. You will work closely with the Co-Founders and Principals to advance the goals of the business and ultimately help develop new client relationships that align with the overall firm strategy and will lead to the next generation of innovative and award-winning work. 

Primary Responsibilities

• Organizational:  In collaboration with the Executive Director of Marketing & Partnerships, strategically assess inbound requests; maintain clear tracking of all active inquiries, project pipeline and client contacts, and capture learnings from wins and losses;  contribute to quarterly and annual reporting to Leadership on plans and execution of Business Development efforts
• RFPs + Pitches: Directly oversee the coordination and execution of the pitch process and materials including credentials, RFP responses, and interview presentations for all proactive outbound and inbound opportunities, the client as required to seek clarifications and additional information.
• Networking + Prospecting: Support outbound prospecting efforts with proactive market and client-specific research on a regular basis to keep the team informed. Attend industry conferences and events as needed to network on behalf of the agency and identify leads to add to our pipeline.

Secondary Responsibilities

• Marketing + Communications: In partnership with the Manager of Marketing & Communications, help deliver client-facing events and/or content-led campaigns to provide A+I opportunities to build relationships outside of day-to-day work streams.  Contribute to the creation of new project collateral and case studies.

• Insights + Industry Intel: In collaboration with the Manager of Marketing & Communications, stay up to date on competitor activity (clients, projects, market positioning) and share pertinent news to inform strategic planning sessions.  Regularly read relevant media publications (e.g., Commercial Observer, Architects Newspaper), sharing insights and elevating potential opportunities with Leadership team as relevant.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Business development experience at an architecture firm and/or creative design agency. Previous experience in client servicing would be a bonus, but not a prerequisite.
• Proficient in Google, Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe (InDesign, PDF).
• Independent and agile, with a real 'sleeves rolled up' approach to doing work. Takes initiative, believes in the phrase “teamwork makes the dream work” and “new business is everyone’s business”.
• Ability to build relationships, influence and engage with internal and external stakeholders.
• Excellent organizational skills, ability to multitask and prioritize.
• Exceptional communication skills.
• Calm under pressure.
• Passion for architecture and design.
• Ambitious, with a growth-oriented mindset.
• Currently living in or ready to relocate to the NYC metropolitan area
• Legally eligible to work in the United States, without need for employee sponsorship
