Snarkitecture is seeking a creative and talented designer with residential experience to join our studio team as a Senior Designer.

Within the Snarkitecture studio, a Senior Designer is an imaginative, resourceful and approachable leader with an excellent design sensibility. They are creative, have strong technical knowledge, are a team player and communicate clearly and effectively. They are actively involved in the creative development of projects and use their talent to develop original concepts, both independently and in collaboration with the team. 

The Senior Designer has experience leading small teams and delivering projects in a timely and efficient manner from concept through completion. They excel in a collaborative environment, actively contribute to studio culture and foster an environment of mutual respect, trust and innovation. Their experience and personality enables them to mentor, challenge and engage teammates and clients alike to elevate design and unlock the potential of each project. 

While there will be an initial focus on residential projects, including leading interior and exterior design, documentation and coordination through all phases of the project, there is an expectation that the role will include work on other typologies including retail, hospitality, exhibition and furniture design.



  • Develop an in-depth understanding of the conceptual focus, design approach, and values of Snarkitecture’s practice and possess the ability to translate and integrate through design, projects and the studio

  • Demonstrate exceptional design sensibility and excellent visualization skills. 

  • Implement design techniques and technical skills through all project phases with precision and attention to detail.

  • Lead the design process from conception through to completion.

  • Lead internal and external presentations. 


  • Lead and coordinate drawing sets from concept through construction.

  • Coordinate closely with consultants including the architect of record, with a focus on preserving Snarkitecture’s design intent throughout the process.

  • Lead and coordinate the preparation of specifications, schedules and FF&E packages.

  • Review and redline drawing sets at all stages of a project.

  • Provide technical guidance and innovative solutions to address technical challenges.

  • Oversee scheduling, budgeting, and delegating work assignments of the project team.

  • Ensure project deliverables and deadlines are met.

  • Understand and implement studio standards. 


  • Independently manage one's own time and resources in addition to a project team.

  • Proven ability to manage other team members in a collaborative setting and to ensure the efficient production of high-quality work on deadline.

  • Provide leadership within the studio from a creative, professional and technical standpoint.

  • Support the professional development of other team members through on-the-job teaching and mentorship.

  • Regularly connect with employees to build and maintain relationships across the team.

  • Assist directors and partners in helping to foster a creative and supportive studio culture.


  • 7-10 years of professional design or architectural experience

  • 5 years of experience with residential projects

  • This is a New York-based position and candidates must be locally based

  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States
