DRAW, DESIGN, THINK, BUILD

ISO an innovator, a thinker, a sketcher, and…

…a designer/architect to join our team and help us improve each of our projects in a focused way, with attention to small things, and flexibility towards what the future may yield.

We’re a small, award-winning, architecture studio located in Chelsea and Sag Harbor, NY. We design custom houses, some very well-budgeted and some very affordable; we’ve created our own line of prefab buildings from recycled shipping containers (nominated as ‘building of the year’ by World Architects); and have created village vision plans, park designs, and public projects. Our buildings have received best-of-year, and AIA awards, and have been widely published (ex., Arc House, Amagansett Modular, House in the Lanes, Bard Media Lab).

The focus of this position is residential work: both custom-designed, single-family homes and 100% prefabricated modular ones. With our homes, you will be part of an expert team, and will help develop extraordinary projects and see them built with care and attention. And with our prefab work, you will participate in the launch of a new 100% pre-fabricated modular prototype that will be instantly livable upon delivery.

You must have a B. Arch and/or M. Arch., and a minimum of 4 years of work experience in United States (we’ll look at less experienced applicants, if their work is in sync with this job description). Your portfolio should demonstrate experience in designing single-family houses through DD and CD phases; and you should be comfortable with coordinating schedules, specs, and vendors, and with working with contractors and clients—of course, always with the help of our team. As such, your portfolio must include Construction Documents of at least one single-family house (interior renovations or design of large structures are not pertinent to this position). If you have seen a few projects through construction, we welcome that experience.

Your primary software for this work is Autocad, but you must be proficient with Adobe, and Sketchup, and have fluency with Rhino. The ability to create beautiful and precise drawings, from presentation drawings to complete CD packages, is essential.

Our studio environment is friendly, and nurturing, and our work aims to be rigorous and exploratory.

Looking forward to seeing your portfolio.
