Overview:

A+I, an award-winning strategy-led architecture and design agency, is seeking a creative and engaged person to join a team of Strategists focused on exploring the overlap between architectural design, experience of place, brand, culture, and strategic thinking. An A+I Strategist engages deeply in client research and helps collaboratively design the ideas and arguments that inform the early visioning and planning process for projects related to the built environment.  At A+I, we believe deeply that great design depends on the collaborative output of our teams.  As a member of A+I project teams, you will work closely and collaboratively with the architects, interior designers, and graphic designers across the studio to build and shepherd project strategies. You will bring the strong design thinking and narrative development capabilities necessary to communicate complex ideas with clarity: visually, verbally, graphically, and in writing.

You will create impact by:

  • Helping design the ideas and arguments that inform the architectural design and planning process.
  • Embracing and helping develop the strategies that guide design across disciplines.
  • Providing creative initiation of design ideas, both independently and with teams.
  • Offering and soliciting constructive and articulate critical design feedback.
  • Communicating complex ideas with clarity: visually, verbally, graphically, and in writing.
  • Demonstrating a passion for design and having a clear point of view, while fostering design collaboration within your team and with office leadership.
  • Caring as much about the culture and people you work with as the project.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of +/-5 years of hands-on strategy and design experience in a design-focused office, ideally a strategically minded creative design agency, architectural office or similar.
  • Work examples that demonstrate a sophisticated design sensibility and an ability to operate in ambiguity and complexity in order to find the interconnections which lead to sensemaking and ultimately decision-making.
  • Deep knowledge/experience in strategic research processes and building client workshops and engagements.
  • Deep knowledge of strategic research processes.
  • A degree in architecture or a related design field, i.e., design impact, design strategy, information design, or innovation
  • Expert experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, & Photoshop,) Microsoft Excel & Word,
  • Familiarity with the following a plus: AutoCAD and Revit, 3-d modeling programs such as Sketchup and Rhino.
  • Comfort with multi‐tasking, upholding multiple lines of inquiry, and collaborating within the context of fast‐paced, dynamic projects.
  • Excellent English language communication and client facing‐skills.
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States, without need for employee sponsorship.
