SHoP Values

SHoP encourages everyone with an interest in this role to apply. We value representation: Women, BIPOC and LGBTQ+ community members are leaders, directors and partners at SHoP and look forward to hearing from you.

Our Team

The Identity Team at SHoP is a closely collaborative group, currently seven people, who work across disciplinary boundaries to help define and communicate the strategies and design work of the studio. Our mandate is both internal and external: to creatively support our dynamic culture, and to share our work and voice across all public channels. We are responsible equally for helping to shape the studio's mission and for directly maintaining the systems and materials we create to document and express it.

 The Position

We’re looking for a colleague who is analytical and intuitive, cerebral and fun, equal parts engaging storyteller and dedicated researcher. Your role will be to collaborate as part of the Identity Team to support the creation of image-driven, written and verbal works from concept development to final execution. The primary focus within the team will be in creating new business proposals, which can take a wide variety a forms from strictly-regimented institutional asks to artful visual narratives. Day-to-day tasks can range from intense deadline-driven production to maintenance of the systems and materials we create to support our work. This is a job that will be different every day, with as much room for autonomy and ideas as there is for structure and collaboration.

In addition to the suggested qualifications listed below, and regardless of previous experience, the ideal candidate should have a deep familiarity with and passion for architecture and cities. This is currently a remote position, but we are seeking someone based in the New York City area who can transition to full-time in-person work at our Manhattan offices as soon as it’s safe.

Professional Qualifications

  • Two or more years experience in a similar role
  • Familiarity with assembly and production of several types of common BD proposals
  • Demonstrably excellent writing skills and visual literacy
  • Fluency with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Ability to work after hours and under tight deadlines

This is not an architectural design position and will not lead to employment in that capacity.

Salary is commensurate with experience. To apply, please send your CV and a selection of relevant work including writing samples to jobs@shoparc.com (use "BDAssociate _NAME" as the subject). All files should be .pdf under 5MB.
