We are seeking a creative, motivated, and highly collaborative Director of Interiors to join our firm and provide visionary design leadership for interiors projects. The Director of Interiors leads the Interiors Team and through collaboration with other design leaders and project teams, develops the interiors for residential, commercial, healthcare, education, and cultural projects in NYC from planning and programming through construction. This position requires an individual who proactively and passionately promotes a thoughtful and engaged design process, robust design dialogue, and impactful presentation. The Director of Interiors reports directly to the Design Principal. 

Responsibilities and Qualifications include:

  • Create the design vision for Interior Architectural projects that range in scale, scope, and typology
  • Present design ideas and concepts to clients and stakeholders passionately and effectively
  • Manage and mentor the Interiors Team with enthusiasm and positivity
  • Strong aesthetic sense and design ability, including color and materials. Able to articulate design process and approach toward design solutions
  • As comfortable with big picture, concept-driven design thinking, as with the technical resolution of design concepts
  • Engage the firm leadership and marketing department in the pursuit of new business opportunities
  • Work closely with Project Managers to develop project-specific interiors vision and scope of work 
  • Strong project management skills, including the demonstrated ability to lead a team, mentor staff, develop staffing plans, and deftly communicate and plan project deliverables and deadlines
  • Exceptional presentation skills
  • Oversee the creation and maintenance of interiors standards
  • Oversee the maintenance of the material library, including interviewing and meeting with vendors and manufacturers and refreshing the library with new materials and finishes
  • Represent the firm, our portfolio, and our values externally through involvement in industry events
  • Experience preparing technical interiors documentation, including FF&E packages, finish/furniture drawings, fabrication details, and specifications
  • Experience working with a team to develop interior design concept, finish palette, and presentation materials
  • Experience coordinating with consultants and vendors
  • Experience with furniture specification and working with furniture dealers, including contract furniture 
  • 10+ years of professional experience with interior architecture and/or interior design projects 
  • Professional degree in Architecture or Interior DesignNYS Architectural Registration or NCIDQ
  • Proficiency with Revit, other 3D software, and Adobe Design Suite
  • Familiarity with NYC Building Code as applied to interior architecture
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States
