Suteishi Restuarant

Suiteishi sustained severe damage during Hurricane Sandy. Six feet of water flooded the restaurant and destroyed the entire interior. The water over-turned refrigerators, freezers, and even their 500 pound ice-machine. The extent of the damage necessitated a complete interior redesign. Suteishi took the opportunity to create a fresh image for itself.

The new design had to accommodate Suteishi’s unique needs. During the day, the restaurant served high volumes of lunch customers quickly. At night, however, Suteishi wanted to provide a relaxed and casual atmosphere for their dinner patrons.

We used an open floor plan to create a mixed-use space. The adaptive furniture layout enables a quick transition between the restaurant's lunch and dinner programs. Innovative lighting design creates a sleek and intimate dining atmosphere.

On October 18th, 2013, Suteishi reopened its doors. Since then, it’s enjoyed a healthy stream of customers and has become the go-to sushi restaurant in South Street Seaport.
