Founded in 1863, Manhattan’s prestigious Hospital for Special Surgery has had to continually adapt its facilities to accommodate modern needs. When they relocated their administrative department, the hospital asked JLGA to create an inviting office environment in a windowless basement.

Working with a limited budget we created an award-winning design. We fostered a sense of openness by using interior windows that look onto the plan’s main corridor. We flooded the space with direct and indirect lighting to create the illusion of daylight. We used accenting sculpture and a sleek color palette to make the office vibrant and comfortable.
