Re-Interpretation of Kimbell Art Museum

Interrelated, Intersecting,  Interwoven 

When constructed in wood, three types of arch-shpaed jig are prebuilt to form the strips of vault. As each of the laminating timbers are bent along the curvature of the zigs, they are layered in multi-directions to become structurally rigid. The major structure members, adjacent to the ground, hop diagonally from one section to another to support other members. Then the minor lumbers are interwoven to enclosure the structure along the grain of the major timbers. Once all of them are formed in place, the jigs are removed.
