115 South Macquesten

GF55 Architects design for 115 S Macquesten is the result of an in-depth analysis for a sustainable, thoughtful urban design solution.

This mixed-use development is composed of two residential buildings with a common base containing residential and public amenities, community facilities, offices, retail, and parking facilities.

The various facades of the development utilize brick, metal panel, stucco, and glass to provide visual interest and break down the scale of the buildings while simultaneously drawing attention to the development as a modern ‘gateway’ that will push a new aesthetic for the Mount Vernon West community. The façade along the main Macquesten thoroughfare and planned future promenade for the city has a more playful and modern take on traditional materials while the South Terrace façade is a nod to the palette of materials found throughout the city. The large white metal panels of the façade along the intersection of South Macquesten and Grove Street provide a spatially and visually engaging streetscape and pedestrian level experience; intentionally calling out the ground floor which will provide myriad opportunities to embrace and support the community.
