very late notice, but i thought that there could be some sci-arc people who might be interested in coming up to chinatown. transparadiso, two austrians (who are here on a MAK center residency and are returning home monday) are presenting some of their work at Telic, at 975 Chung King Rd. at 7pm. i think there should be refreshments.

here is the more formal announcement:

transparadiso: 'in-between'
_a lecture/ presentation with video and discussion
Friday, September 17, 2004, 7pm

A presentation of recent projects from their practice, which is based on involving the consumer as active participant and the research of new urbanistic tactics - e.g. the development of tools like the indikatormobil, an urban emergency vehicle.

transparadiso is based in Vienna and was founded in 1999 by Barbara Holub, an artist, and Paul Rajakovics, an architect, as a "platform for intended and non-calculated interventions between art, architecture, and urbanism with regular excursions to border zones." This year they are recipients of the Schindler Stipendium at the MAK Center for Art and Architecture, Los Angeles. Recent projects include exhibitions, urban interventions, publications, and lectures for the Austrian Cultural Forum, New York; Wienmuseum, Vienna; Gallery Hohenlohe & Kalb, Vienna; dérive magazine, Vienna; the International Symposion on Architecture, Valparaíso, Chile; Symposion Urban Drift, Berlin.
