DC, VA, MD, and Obama supporters, as you can see Patrick say on the McCain thread, he and other conservatives/republicans will try to suppress the voices of many by throwing the election towards Hillary.

let's get out there and show our system will not be corrupted!

Elimelech - and what about all the liberal/democrats that corruped the republican primaries? The door swings both ways in a primary election...and why I prefer the caucus system. Only gets out those that really care since it's devoting hours to your canidate....not 10 minutes in an anonymous voting booth.

received this:

$5.01 MONEY BOMBS FOR OBAMA.

This means to contribute small donations of $5.01 here:

http://my.barackobama.com/page/outreach/view/maingroup/ScholarsforObama

If the link does not work above, try copying and pasting to your browser window.

WHY $5.01:

(EXCERPT FROM THE ORIGINAL POST ON DAILYKOS)

The proposal is a hybrid combination of coincidences and not a an actual historical comparison between Abraham Lincoln and Barack Obama.

They both are from Illinois (birthplaces actually in KY-Lincoln and HI-Obama). So on February 12th (Lincoln's Birthday) we have a money bomb extravaganza of small donations of $5.01 for Senator Obama. The reasons for this amount are easy to see:

1. Small donations are powering Obama's campaig.

2. Lincoln is on the $5 bill and the penny

3. .01 is also for us online progressives making a statement to the campaign that we are here and we've got money. That we aren't the huge bundlers for campaigns. We sacrifice parts of paychecks that mean more proportionally to those of us with smaller incomes. We buy into Barack Obama because we do dream of a more hopeful future instead of cynicsm. I would much rather be called a Hopemonger than a Warmonger. So if you believe in the hope tha t small donors are powering the Obama campaign, please join me in showing that when Americans united with Hope can wield large influence with small donations!

Give what you can, as long as it is somehow relateable to $5.01. Examples: $5.01, $10.02, $25.05, etc, etc. It's amazing at how fast this idea spread and thank all of you for your support. This is about the little guy.

"Fir st they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win." - Mahatma Gandhi

Remember to add .01 or .02, to let Obama Campaign know it came from the NETROOTS/INTERNET.

Lastly, Texas and Ohio are on March 4th. These are large states and Texas television ads are over 1M a week. The incredible thing about this campaign is that we always KNEW that Barack had to compete agains t the Clinton Machine. The donations don't stop now, we are too close to the Democratic Nomination. Please give as much as you can and don't forget to keep volunteering, phone banking, etc.

Too close to stop now.

Let's do this!!

free, if that is what you want to donate to obama, than you are right. I think Washington and Jefferson would agree with Lincoln on this one.

i don't have any problems with spanish speakers

i have a problem with barack 'stealing' the cesar chavez saying 'si, se peude!'

and it's not that it's in spanish, i just think it's cheap the way barack is using it along with all the 'hope and change' rhetoric that means nothing. i don't believe the hype.

that has nothing to do with your: 'no comprendo' line, it makes it sound like you think spanish speakers are not very bright.

How is his use of the word cheap? he is taking on the cause of giving a voice to the voice-less, tell me who else could use that word better? Hillary and her campaign fueled by shady deals? McCain is closer to the call than her.

[off topic]
Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean were u.s. border patrol agents who shot an illegal alien drug smuggler near el paso. they were convicted of violating the drug smuggler's civil rights and using a firearm to commit a crime (the drug smuggler testified he was unarmed).

they didn't follow the proper procedures for reporting the incident and were accused of 'covering up' and 'destroying evidence' to hide their 'crime'.

it comes down to if you believe the drug smuggler (that he was unarmed) or the border agents (they thought while the drug smuggler was running away that he had a gun and was pointing it at the agents).

i believe the agents over someone who was given immunity to testify against them. and there is no way to prove the drug smuggler wasn't armed. they got 11 and 12 years in prison; they've already spent over a year in prison.

a 3-judge panel has heard the appeal and will issue their response hopefully in the next few weeks. at the hearing, one judge said the prosecution 'overreacted' so that is hopeful.

Great, two shit-for-brains like Hannity/Colmes denigrate two members Congress: what the fuck have they ever accomplished? So that dickhead Luntz (?) mocks a person for naming a particular vote: I got news for him IT'S THEIR FUCKING JOB, that's what they were elected to Congress to do!!
Accomplishment? They both had a 70% percent approval rating when they began their run for office. What the fuck do they want "oh, I cured cancer Hannity" or "yea, I ended world hunger, Colmes, and now I'm working on cleaning up the oceans"...why don't they look in the mirror and ask themselves what THEY have accomplished?
Man, fuck this, I can't take it any more, I'm hiding in a cave until this election is over...

A senior adviser to Nancy Pelosi

, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, has suggested that she — along with other “party elders” — will step into the ring to end this extraordinary contest if it threatens Democratic hopes of winning back the White House or maintaining control over Congress. Ms Pelosi says that she is “torn” and that “the people will speak — that’s the beauty of a democracy,” before adding: “My focus is on re-electing a Democratic majority in the House of Representatives.”

Her voice would carry great authority among uncommitted super-delegates on Capitol Hill — and she is said to be “leaning” towards Mr Obama. “The party Establishment is not going to turn its back on a candidate who is generating this tremendous excitement and bringing all these new voters into the political process,” said a source close to her. Mr Obama’s team are pressing the same message, especially to members of Congress in districts where he has already won and who may not wish to alienate their core vote in an election year.

The Obama coalition gets bigger:

http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/02/12/live-blogging-the-potomac-primaries/

7:09 p.m. | More Numbers: Mr. Obama ran up the numbers in Virginia among groups that have long expressed support for him — independents, college graduates and the affluent. But he also did well with white men; in fact a majority of white men sided with Mr. Obama over Mrs. Clinton. Looks like women in Virginia went for Mr. Obama.

We can do this, America needs a decisive new direction.

Free, does race concern you so much? Or is it just language (spanish) that bothers you?

he split the white vote, got a lot of latino support (tying and winning it), and got about 80-09% of the black vote.

at the end of the day, does it matter? it was Americans voting for what they think is best for the country. Unless you think that one of these groups should not have as much of a voice as another.
