what's in a name

obelix

I am wondering about the recent trend to using the plus (+) sign in firm names. What about other signs, and what would they mean?

bill + ted architects: the addition of ted benefits the firm

bill - ted architects: bill would just as soon ted left

bill/ted: bill and ted work together but don't talk

bill & ted: this firm is an excellent adventure

billted: bill and ted are sleeping together

And then there is BT Architects. That's what you call the firm when both bill and ted have been dead for 20 years.

I knew a couple like that in college. They were dating and inseprable. His name was Steve and hers was Allison. Steve n' Allison quickly became Steven Allison to those who hadn't met them and didn't realize they were two separate people.

Diller + Scofidio became Diller Scofidio + Renfro; I guess only one "+" allowed per office name ?

[Staghorn Sumac is my favorite archinect neme, because I'm in love with the plant. Anybody cultivating this stuff ? Apparently they did in 19th century Britain. . .]

SDR let's go private :P

Staghorn sumac grows wild in New England; I think it sounds like a plant porn star.

b[t] architects, ie ted is the gimp and lives in the box.

I'm a fan of sumac too. I'd plant some in my front yard, but not sure if the neighbors would appreciate after it colonizes the entire block. You can make a lemonade like beverage by seeping the sumac berries in cold water for a while - yum (learned that in high school in New England).
