that was intended as sarcasm. and i'm right there with you on
what you wear to work...i either wear jeans, cords, or something
like that...it's intersting t's and shirts that i mainly have a problem
finding..
i'm looking for one of a kind interesting stitching or prints or
something like that...
"In Argentina, consider checking out the work of local designers -- and there's no better place to do so than in the transformed neighborhood of Palermo Viejo, a sort of SoHo South. In an area once known for its car repair shops and plumbing supply stores, there are now more than 100 boutiques for avant-garde and modish clothing and accessories, with the highest concentration of shops between Plaza Palermo Viejo and Plaza Cortazar."
I am serious about BA if you can get there. I blew a grand on clothes there last summer...and I don't like to shop.
I was at a biker bar place having breakfast one Sunday morning in Ojai (an hour or so north of LA...I was camping) and a fight of sorts broke ou between 2 of the local yocals (apparently someone was spending a little too much time with the other's lady)
anyways, as they were yelling at each other, I overheard one say 'even though I am wearing flip-flops, I could still kick you ass'...made my day
woo, i'm wearing flip flops in the office too. i love that I can wear them in the office in l.a. they are nice ones, by the way. and i'm wearing a dress so i'm not in shredded jeans (my theory on the shredded jeans is that people are lazy and won't take the time to take their pants to a tailor).
men's clothes: well, H&M has some good looking stuff for guys. not sure where you are located but...check them out.
the men's department in bloomie's and nordie's always has a nice selection.
threadless.com for fun t-shirts (if you are in chicago i hear they are opening their first retail store...)
i'm in new york..which makes me just a bit lazy..since there are
a lot of cool boutiques..but i'm loookin for reccomendations since
out of all of those boutiques maybe 5-10 have anything in my
price range or are very original...and are easy to locate...
i kind of like threadless..but a lot of their stuff is just one liners..
i'm looking for cool graphics/nicely drawn stuff...not jokes so much.
has anyone bought from bluefly.com?
they seem to have some good stuff...
and conormac..i walked into diesel on prince for fun to see if they
had anything..but the men's section seemed to be sorely lacking..
a lot of store..but very little in terms of clothing.
true, i'll give ya that. They aren't afaid to use an entire shelf to display one ski cap, which isnt even on sale. But when you DO find something, you'll wear it forever. It's almost art.
I don't even know about that paul smith business. damn!
i studied abroad in copenhagen last yr, and there were a bunch of cal poly students in the program who refused to take off their flip flops even when it was raining ice and they had to bike to their apartments.
i thin thom browne has great menswear for work. it's sort of insanely expensive but he just did a more affordable collection for brooks brothers!
uhuh, flip flops flip off fastest, leaving you barefoot, which is the fastest. shoes are heavy and at the ends of your legs (increased rotational inertia/acceleration.). you can feel your legs move faster when you sprint barefoot.
and flipflops = stinky feet
flip flops would be least stinkiest footwear, because the foot is not encased in its sweat.
farmer: re: buying clothing at the paint store: that comment belongs on the "men thread"!! Excellent choice (I've always been attracted to paint store clothing, too.)!
Wash your socks and you are fine. Flip flops are nasty...open foot, no thanks - unless, of course, you have nicely manicured feet (which, guys, none of you seem to have). It is fine around the house or on campus, just please do not prop them up on a chair. They do stink, and they are not covered by anything...nasty. You wanna wear flip flops? go to the beach.
No, nothing other than the fact that I don't take pleasure in viewing nasty man feet throughout the day. Wear a shoe, you are not working at the local 7-11...have some pride in your attire. That is all.
liberty bell: thanks for your comments re: painter's clothes. Yesterday I went back to the Glidden store and bought a great Dickie's jacket and painter's shorts.
Good work - all set up for those cold Northern winters now, eh farmer? (Have you seen the aurora borealis lately? I've been craving it lately, and I only saw it once - magical.)
so...let's say you were sick of bein naked
so..i'm bored to death of the clothes i have and that seem
to be offered out there...specifically for guys.
where on the web would you search for some new threads?
button down shirts and chinos are nice and all..but is there
anyone that does something a bit different?
Take a trip to buenos aires...best fashion in the world and the prices are right!
chinos??? WTF????
Jeans, T shirt, flip flops...never gets old. Wear that shit to the office, job sites, client meetings
flip flops say, "I am lazy and have no fashion sense"

or flipflops say i live in cali...
I'm going for eurotrash look- most of my new duds are from zara, beneton, and express
IMO, flipflops say "I won't be able to outrun you"
why do most who wear flip flops also wear pants that a far too long so as to rip up the cuff? LAZY. lift your damn feet when you walk...jeeesh.
I know plenty of californians who look sharp and don't sport flip flops.

i studied abroad in copenhagen last yr, and there were a bunch of cal poly students in the program who refused to take off their flip flops even when it was raining ice and they had to bike to their apartments.

american apparel
marc jacobs has nice stuff as well
flipflops = footwear
shoes = unjust constraint
flipflops = stinky feet
flip flops = bad
paul smith is good though. shop at saks 5th and you will be alright.
i'm lookin for some stuff that isn't exactly the same old stuff..like
saks, h&m, banana republic etc...
there are a couple boutiques on prince and south of there...west
of broadway that look interesting..
i have some t-shirts.........
flips flops are neccesary and in the islands its where its at
i don't live in the islands but flip flops are not so much a fashion decision as a default for me.
i'd be all over some "architecture sucks" flip flops. hell, if i could do all my clothes shopping on archinect i'd be set.
uhuh, flip flops flip off fastest, leaving you barefoot, which is the fastest. shoes are heavy and at the ends of your legs (increased rotational inertia/acceleration.). you can feel your legs move faster when you sprint barefoot.

all new zealanders know how to run in jandals.
last week I went into the Glidden store and came out with a pair of these.
farmer: re: buying clothing at the paint store: that comment belongs on the "men thread"!! Excellent choice (I've always been attracted to paint store clothing, too.)!
ya pretty much flip flops are the only way to avoid stinky feet...
altho I agree, in certain urban environments they push the limits - dirty feet are wicked gross.

jason...
did a flip flop spit in your corn flakes or something?
(i know that flip flops are inanimate..but the image was sort of
funny...that and it sounded better than 'did a flip flop shoot your
dog..or the like)
i don't have any particular hatred/passion for the flip flop, but
i feel like you must've had some bad flip flop experiences...
personally..it's the very rare occasion when my feet stink.
No, nothing other than the fact that I don't take pleasure in viewing nasty man feet throughout the day. Wear a shoe, you are not working at the local 7-11...have some pride in your attire. That is all.
I like my zories. They keep my feet un-stinky, jc.
Though I don't wear them to the office unless it's the weekend... I agree. Man toes are ugly.
you better not be wearing open-toed flip-flops if you're the one grilling my taquitos and pouring my slurpees.
and fwiw - i've been rocking paul smith for years.
though i can't afford any of their threads...i spec'd one of their dope stripey rugs.
