um rose... of my four schools, that've all given out acceptances thusfar, GSD is the ONE where I think there might still be a slight hope. This is just based on the random nature in which they gave them out in previous years. However, it does seem like a LARGE number of people heard back in one group a few days ago. not a good sign
My aunt and uncle teach at Cal (UC Berkeley) and sit on the M.ArchII admissions board - they told me that it's all about your portfolio and personal statements, followed by recommendations. GPA and GRE count as outliers - if you have exceptionally high or low scores.
its too bad that the schools give you less than a month to decide where to go. i want to visit the open houses but some might actually be after the cutoff point for others
no, but i know they hand out pretty generous scholarships. kinda like UMich. They don't really have a choice because they are competing with a lot of excellent, affordable schools within the Top 15 programs.
yeah, obviously it would be great to get $$. I'm not happy with the money Mich gave me, and just found out I was rejected for the Chancellor's Fellowship program at WashU (full ride and $26,000 monthly stipend) which...although wasn't realistic that I would have gotten it, would have been awesome.
ripo, gsd is just ok about fin aid - my boyfriend's about to graduate there with $80K in debt, about half of which is from undergrad. when he was deciding where to go, he was looking at gsd, ysoa, columbia, and uva, and fin aid packages made them all pretty much cost the same. he has gotten to go on two studio trips (germany and honduras) that were completely funded by the school though, so harvard's endowment makes its presence known in other ways.
wondering, i'm in that boat - accepted at yale + princeton, not a peep from gsd (yet?) it's a big school, seems like there will be a bigger wave of gsd admits coming in soon.....
2008 M.Arch applicants, commiserate here!
modernmonk-congrats!
yes while im not counting on getting into the GSD by any means
im very curious as to when the open house is
anyone?

@j2h: thanks
@ottodesk ottocad: shanghai
smith - do you mean yeah you have gotten $$ from them?
a gsd prof told me that gpa matters more for m.arch 1 non-arch backgrounds since it is hard to judge their portfolios.

ha-no, definitely not true in my case... 3.08 gpa here
DJ Tanner-
wow. that's good to know. maybe it was his personal view..
not that 3.08 is bad...

anyone know how the gsd is with financial aid?
I've heard Wash U is very good about giving out $$$.
did you look at the applicants who had received the chancellors in the past? once I saw that, i knew that i had no chance.

I pretty much knew i had no chance, but I thought I'd try anyway.
Are you going to the open house?
h p a-
I think I will be attending - haven't sent in the money yet, you?
26,000 a month stipend! holy moly
ks, what's this?
I'm probably also attending, also haven't sent money
26,000 a month? surely you mean a year!
oliv - I'm going...just sent it today...do you know if they fly everyone out?
has anyone who got into yale/others and applied to mit or harvard not heard from them?
did MIT call late in the day or should we assume harvard and mit are done?
pineapple-
sounds like there is a 275 dollar fee and then flights, hotel, transport and meals are paid by wustl.
the $275 fee, as far as i know, covers airfare, hotel, transportation, and some meals
i would assume as much. Not me. I'm referring to the Chancellor Fellowship

sorry im really curious,
does anyone know when the open house in April is for the GSD for admitted students?
_juut I'm guessing they would fly at most schools.. they're def. good
no, freshly rejected students are free to show up, preferably inebriated, and makes asses of themselves. thats my plan
oh, my fault...thought you said "if" not "when"... bristow, you got in?
just got into Columbia via online app status! Dula-degree Master of Architecture / M.S. Historic Preservation program
*dual
uh oh...here we go
ks, did you get an email about it??
congratulations ks! that's awesome!
wondering, i'm in that boat - accepted at yale + princeton, not a peep from gsd (yet?) it's a big school, seems like there will be a bigger wave of gsd admits coming in soon.....
congrats by the way! that is excellent!
yea, an email stating that a decision was now available online and the link to the login
asbuckeye somewhat confused by your comment...
no i have not heard anything
and im by no means counting on it
just hoping hoping hoping.
but i am very curious as to when these openhouses are since we have only til april 15th to decide.
yes, snarkitekt, it would be logical, especially in your case with those other acceptances. It would be weird if you didn't get in to the gsd, too
bris, i misread your prior statement, disregard my sad attempt at humor.
asbuck, i have always heard you can get in through the back door, if you happen to get waitlisted
anyone else hear anything out of columbia just now?
ok - here's hoping - i'm happy with yale, but had my heart set on gsd
