Charlotte Gainsbourg isn't a band but I've been spending a sunny afternoon assembling bookshelves, cleaning, eating, dining all to the slight but really rather wonderful soundtrack that is Charlotte. Can't not love her a bit.
Also, Prekop's from The Sea and Cake, not Cake. Not sure if you were abbreviating, or thought he was in the "he's going the distance, he's going for speed" band.
I was wrong, that was what I read in a website profile about another artist that collaborated with Sam. I didn't think it sounded anything like Cake, so was confused, that clears things up. thanks for the link.
i orignally switched it for the discussion about imitation being a form of flattery... but never posted. now I'm kinda liking it as an ode to my archinect idols: Steven Ward, L.B., and vado.
But I shall switch it again. :( looks like I'll never hit 1000 at this rate.
Ooh. People here have mentioned Lemon Jelly and Nouvelle Vague. Both brilliant.
I suppose a shortcut to finding super-obscurity on an international internet forum is to name-check a local band who haven't even released an album yet.
Everyone's favorite band that no one has ever heard of...

Check out www.pitchforkmedia.com to find more music by him.
