I'm starting this thread as a location for video content of interest to archinect. Try and keep it relevant, compelling, dare i say informative more so than "the funny," although i'm likely to be guilty of that offense.
feature length is a plus. Like jpg. du jour, entries can be links only more so than commentary.
I started a version of this thread here, with links to charlie rose episodes free on google video. Additionally in that thread were some links labeled, "misuse of rap".
There's a great company out there called Squint Opera that takes projects and ideas and makes short films on them. Here's one of my favorites about a city redevelopment. Make sure you have your sound on, it's essential, and watch the whole thing (about 10 mins) it gets better as it goes.
Notable, Peter makes a prophetic joke about what ten years will do to a man's waistline.
Drink everytime panelists like Greg Lynn, Richard Meier, Sanford Kwinter, SOM's David Childs, or Michael Graves say the words "computer", or damn Peter by feigning praise.
a French feature on Jean Nouvel's Branley Museum in Paris. Without otherwise understanding french, there are inserts of the exterior during what appears to be the pre-occupancy phase.
Thank you for the throw-back to my childhood. I used to watch 3-2-Contact daily on PBS (we only got network television). My favorite part of the show was the Bloodhound Gang.
As for a contribution to this thread, I found job job to be delightfully artful.
a Canadian filmmaker and choreographer waltzes with bulldozers. Who knew sitework could be so graceful? The making-of featurette is here on google video.
DCA: Yep. That was quite the find. I, too, was a BHG afficionado. Time to hunt down the "architecture rap" from The Great Space Coaster.
Bonus points to anyone who can find videos from Hiraki Sawa online. The Hirshhorn recently featured the artist in its Black Box series. The videos were fantastic, but I never seemed to have enough time to watch all of them.
Pimp my model is tops, Orhan. I cant help but imagine the anecdote about Oldenberg sticking the binoculars in Gehry/Walsh's Chiat-Day project model should be considered the prequel. If memory serves me well, the Louis Vitton store in Tokyo resembles Pimp my Model's satiric opener.
House of Future – good one abracabara. I could not believe the stove that transforms into a refrigerator! What?? Or what about checking stocks from my toaster! Ok?? Being the geek/loser that I am, I watched most of this video!!! Couldn't seem to break away.
Isn't it wonderful how technology enhances our quality of life - sounds like I have a future in the Software Engineering industry – so why would I want to leave now??? Well, try spending 60 hours a week programming over a number of years and you'll know why!!!
man, people really do love the implosions. the reactions are hilarious....if you watch the bridge implosion ("people" link above), this woman makes an ecstatic gasp right as the bridge explodes...
Channel Archinect

I'll start.
misuse of rap to teach kids about architecture (3-2-1 Contact!)
Is it just me, or can you actually hear the singers cracking up at the ridiculousness of singing "It's ARCH...itecture!"
Hilarious. Good thread idea, Marlin!
Oops and I just broke a rule, sorry.

Check out this amazing robotics video...
i thought this was going to be about reaching out to those from the beyond.
I started bookmarking these things on deli: http://del.icio.us/javierarbona/architecture+video
From 1996, the glory days at the crux of computer standardization, Peter Eisenman suckers Charlie Rose into a panel discussion about the "future of architecture" at the opening of his Aronoff Center in Cincinnati.

Marlin,

has a great site that provides on-demand videos of significant public events – Architecture as being one of the many subjects available for viewing.
oh boy he deals with everything. he is the center of the world...yeaoowww .

-a cult classic
"there's crannies all over this place!"

....oh just a coincidence
5 minutes and 46 seconds into the interview he crosses his fingers to describe the kiasma...which resembles the album cover...watch it
watching a webcam trained on urban infrastructure is about as engaging as watching Canadian snow melt, except when it's four days of Panama Canal Webcam stills or daytrips of a commuter ferry over the Rhine compressed into a few heart-pounding minutes.
Too exciting? There's always watching Canadian snow melt.
It's hard out here for a pimp: Joshua Prince-Ramus breaks down the Seattle Public Library at the TED Conference on Google Video.
Still jonesing for more OMA? From street-level to the top, take a first-person walking tour through the circulation and common spaces. Or a tour focusing on the infographics and stacks circulation.
Who killed the PreFab home? A wonderful documentary on the rise and fall of the Lustron , America's post-WWII stab at the manufactured home.
, boom, people-fuckin'-love- it
the girl from pimp my model is pretty hot. is that the gsd?
This pop video features one Archinect editor (quiz!) and I have been dying to post this for ages, I can't hold it any longer. 15 minutes.

A few minutes of discussion on the Simmons Hall Dorm with Steven Holl on Charlie Rose continues with an indie short film titled,
"Algae Doesn't Appreciate a Great Sponge:A subjective expository documentary on Holl's Simmons Hall Dormitory at MIT."
The potent quotable,
LaCROSSE-CAPPED MIT SUDENT: "my room? Well, it's got a huge bulge in it."
For the record... misuse of rap by kids to teach architecture.
"the dormers and the gables make the girls go crazy..."
wow. absolutely genious.
that's right. genious
man, people really do love the implosions. the reactions are hilarious....if you watch the bridge implosion ("people" link above), this woman makes an ecstatic gasp right as the bridge explodes...
its what the students don't like that make the building alive. classic...
The production company that created the documentary on LeCorb’s La Tourette Monastery, released another stunning documentary on Google Video about LeCorb’s Maison De Verre. Flooded with sultry detail shots of the interior furniture and the Maison’s famous glass blocks, this documentary certainly qualifies as architectural smut porn.
Is the house really a machine for living? Or has it become home for living machines? This short film inadvertently asks how far the McMansion has strayed from Corb’s declaration.
Also, ever wonder what it takes to be top dog at the Massachusettes CAD Monkey Vocational College?
Corbu did not design Maison De Verre.
give chareau his props!
yep...i blew that one...
...and remember to use "Preview", marlin
