PM software/ excel template?

Bula

First off, I apologize in advance for starting this prosaic and banter retarding thread.

I have been managing projects for the better part of 8+ years. Do to the small size of our firm, a managing team usually consists of you and yourself. Well, all of that is changing, and I am now assembling 2-3 person teams for various projects I will be working on. I am somewhat of a control freak and like to keep a fairly organized flow with my projects, and up until now, a simple excel log file/ post-it system sufficed. Now with more complicated projects coming down the pipe, I have begun looking for a very simple yet concise PM program/ software (or excel template). The only software I have seen thus far is achioffice, but it appears to be a little overkill (I don't need office management).

I've wasted a lot of time over the years creating excel templates or standards that really should be thoroughly available and commonplace by now...or maybe they are and I'm just not looking hard enough. Anyhow, does anyone have an architect specific software recommendation or an excel file/template they would be willing to share.

- Microsoft Office is a fairly simple program that is easy to learn.
- Primavery Project Planner - very comprehensive. It's rather easy once you get the ang of it.

Check out the PSA Scorecard at http://www.psascorecard.com/ it's great for small to midsize offices. It's a web based A/E Firm Management Software so you and your team can access your project management, time & billing and sales & marketing information from anywhere.

Good luck to you!

You should also check out ArchitTrek at http://archittrek.com, they're a new company with a product that rivals Basecamp and most other project management software I've demoed. Their main focus are architects and designers too, so the interface is set up in an intuitive manner.
