we talked about local music once. most of mine so far have already had some local on them, and i know that quix had some philly on his. that could be a fun one. (vado, i've got that indy funk disc if you'd want a track from it on your indy mix...)
yeah, I'd love to do a local mix. If your not in a city known for it's music, you could always find some weird tangental ways of connecting it all together.
plus it'll give me an excuse to put on the greatest
so two choices. summer or local music. everyone weigh in with their thoughts.
well we could have a local [or semi-local, in my case] mix with summer-type music - whatever that is for you. not necessarily with the word summer in it. mostly by local bands.
or in my case, tunes i like listening to when the weather gets a little chilly. chilly = summer just south of the equator. but i guess i''ll do more of a warm/beach theme to agree with you guys in the other hemisphere.
ok i should admit while you guys talk about it i've started a tentative mix... just because i like having a long time to do it, and the last one was interrupted by travel/life/emergencies and i did it way too quickly. also, i have time now but starting next week i'll be swamped.
and lo and behold, it includes at least one cover- so carry on, i'm good.
nope, i hadn't heard either of them... and now i've heard about 2 secons worth of each. oops... er... my finger slipped on the mouse and closed the window.
Journey is a NEABIDS. Bands like Journey, Styx, Foreigner et al. were bands that we despised sooo sooo much that we expended so much hate energy on them that now i hear there music and get all teary eyed about how much passion i could expend over something i despised so... Domo Eragato.
And now for about the 3,478th time in my life I have frickin' Don't Stop Believin' stuck in my brain. aml I'm jealous of your lack of exposure to that song.
I finally got around to listening to your One mix, disc #2, when I drove for three hours last week and I listened to NOTHING but it over and over - I love it! It's so funny and diverse.
I admit, however, to skipping the last three songs after I heard them through the first time - Foreigner, The Fixx, and (oh my lord) Europe are not music I can listen to happily, even ironically.
But the rest of the disc is amazing!! I love all of it. Thank you.
Now I need to go back and listen to your disc#1 again.

katze and n_ i included you two but i'm not sure if you actually wanted to be in it or not, so let me know if you don't. I feel like there were other people who wanted to be in that I’m missing, so if you still want to get in this one, let me know.
aml, you'll have to tell me whether you thought my 'one' mixes were ok or you thought they sucked. so far my covers include a lot of - um - well, country-ish stuff not unlike the country stuff on the 'one' set.
lb seems to have figured it out, sorry about that aml, i thought some of the names might have been repeats but now that it seems like we've dropped down to the few hardcore swappers, we're bound to start getting some repeats eventually.
oh steven i thought i told you... i enjoyed your one mix very much and i keep it on permanent rotation in my car. thanks again for sending me a copy (crowbert still seems to be backed up so his mix hasn´t arrived yet)
CD Swap!

quix, you can use them either way: summertime
Touche Sir.
locals may be hard for a lot of folks. i'm warming to the summer idea...
summer nights
summer lovin'
summer love
school's out for...
the boys of...
summer breeze
...in the city
...and one of the worst of all time: ...'69
really i don't need another cd with any of these songs:
summertime
in the summertime
summer wind
summer of 69
any beach boys song
in the good old summertime
summer in the city
summer feeling
etc...
and the best summer song is summer rain by johnny rivers.
so is that a vote for local vado?
no although the two greatest american song writers are from indiana.

ive also wanted to do a cover mix. every cd swap i've gotten has had at least one cover song on it.
i LOVE cover mixes. that can be fun ... but it can also get ugly.
I'd love to do a cover mix.
ok i should admit while you guys talk about it i've started a tentative mix... just because i like having a long time to do it, and the last one was interrupted by travel/life/emergencies and i did it way too quickly. also, i have time now but starting next week i'll be swamped.

is the cover "carry on' by crosby stills nash and young? cuz i love that song.
nope, it's probably useless since most people won't have heard the original song anyways, but it's a cover- you'll just have to trust me.
is it DoNtStOpBeLiEvIn???
[vado you just made me youtube/search that song because i'd never heard it in my life]
Ok, I like the Cover mix, so if your in for this round, tell me by next friday and I'll post the list.
I'm in.
you've never heard that song!!!! there are about fifty pages of vids on it.
nope, i hadn't heard either of them... and now i've heard about 2 secons worth of each. oops... er... my finger slipped on the mouse and closed the window.
i'm in!
i'm down for doin the copycat songs. count me in!
about two seconds of journey is enough. basta!
theme idea: its summer. kick off the covers.
There are two types of people in this world - people who love Journey and liars.
Journey is a NEABIDS. Bands like Journey, Styx, Foreigner et al. were bands that we despised sooo sooo much that we expended so much hate energy on them that now i hear there music and get all teary eyed about how much passion i could expend over something i despised so... Domo Eragato.

hey is there an echo in here?
good grief. i'm up over 4.5 hours of covers stored in my wma playlist so far but can't decide which ones are not absolutely necessary.
I'm in. I don't care what the theme is.
And now for about the 3,478th time in my life I have frickin' Don't Stop Believin' stuck in my brain. aml I'm jealous of your lack of exposure to that song.
n_: that's awesome....and so true.
ok ok i'm gettin this thing goin. who'm i sendin to, quixotica?
I finally got around to listening to your One mix, disc #2, when I drove for three hours last week and I listened to NOTHING but it over and over - I love it! It's so funny and diverse.

Now I need to go back and listen to your disc#1 again.
And I'm ready for swap #6 too.
vado, your last one is in regular rotation in my car. i always have to listen to 'walk on by' twice. isaac hayes: genius.
i realized last night that a lot of the same songs could hit your covers mix.
i've just decided that ozzy osbourne and the muppets doing 'born to be wild' is not necessary to include in my covers mix. CUT!
yes that is some hot buttered soul!
OK here it is.

Yay! Cake's cover of "War Pigs" comin' at ya, n_!!
(Steven you go ahead and use it too.)
live or studio?
hi quixotica!
i've already sent a cd to vado, maybe i should send to someone else in the name of maximum swappiness? [not that i mind]
I'll use studio, I think. Although live has that "summer festival" feel, no?
You choose.
*maximum swappiness* I love it.
aml, why don't you send to me and n_ can send to vado, that way n_ and I aren't directly swapping with each other?
actually lb, i've not ended up using any cake, believe it or not.
cool lb, that works!
aml, you'll have to tell me whether you thought my 'one' mixes were ok or you thought they sucked. so far my covers include a lot of - um - well, country-ish stuff not unlike the country stuff on the 'one' set.
