all of the gaudi is amazing, also enjoyed the sert blg. for the miro foundation
and the instute for antonio tapies.

not sure about new stuff - although I did spy some of the Miralles and Pinos stuff when it was still under construction for the olympics - been a while - enjoy

spend some time in the old medieval district...narrow cobblestone streets with great shops and restaurants.

i am a bit nervous of my hotel choice - i saw on your site that its right next to the construction site of Chipperfields Audiovisual Campus! also, i was thinking of hiring a bike to get around quicker?? is barcelona bike friendly?

I really never biked in Barcelona but there are areas that are adapted for bike routes... skip the central Eixample -too busy- and move around the Poblenou-Forum area -flat land beside the sea, below the Diagonal and to the eastern edge of the Old City, the Ciutadella park, etc... Gràcia is nice to stroll but not that nice to bike.. the Old CIty is too crowded..

The architectural part of the trip is easy to look-up. Outside of that sort of thing, I would make sure to hit some of the restaurants in Barcelonetta (sp?) to get some great Spanish seafood dishes. Also, there is some great places to get drinks down there before dinner.

Check out the deli style, wine bar / cafe in Enric Miralles' spectacular Mercat d'Santa Caterina. Great market with a great atmosphere and some really tasty dishes, the wine was nice too. Just watch your pockets, all the time.

We didn't have anything taken but the guy sitting next in the cafe to me suddenly turned and told me to check my bag, nothing was taken but he said someone just brushed against the back of my chair and he was ready to run after the guy. It turned out he was an undercover guard. Be careful.
