Dusty - after last year (0/9) I went to ucla's jumpstart summer program, produced new work and a brand spankin' new portfolio, researched schools carefully which greatly informed my personal statements and arch. interests, took calculus at cal, added one letter of recommendation, and established california residency.
(i looked fruitlessly for an arch-related internship in san francisco, oh well)
dusty, thanks, at least i know i'm not alone... this is like the calm before the storm.... the only thing i got since tuesday are my portfolios from princeton (i applied last year too), and that didn't really make my day...
not necessarily. maybe its on a rolling basis like GSAAP? Although, at this point, Im thinking rejection on my part, but thats just my intuition based on previous rejections.
"There is always next year" is what I am telling myself now. Waiting on Rice, GSAAP, and GSD.
whoa - 5000 spots? at least something on this site makes me feel good...
Anyone else get the cruel UT Austin email saying:
"The Office of Student Financial Services (OSFS) has received your
2006-07 FAFSA application data electronically from the US Department of Education. However, we cannot process your application because you have not yet been admitted to the University."
Yeah, the first read I didn't see the "yet" and I freaked out - what a way to find out things!! UGH.
i only saw jualn on this forum being called for an m.arch. I acceptance at GSD, probably a top candidate that they really want. maybe i missed someone else, but the others seemed to have been accepted into the AP, or m.arch. II programs. i wouldn't despair yet, there are still two weeks left (i shouldn't be talking, i've been waiting for my damn phone to ring the whole week...). as for columbia, that wave of letters might have been just the first round of admissions.
im just assuming, mainly because a lot of ppl got letters from gsapp and calls from toshiko in the beginning of the week, and then there was a long silence from both. meaning they might still be discussing/ deciding on the rest of us.
for those in NYC who do not support the war, there will be a march on Sat. March 18th. meeting point is Times Square at 1pm. that is if you want to channel your energy towards something more useful than checking this thread 50 times a day. my apologies for this activist bit.
I got my call from the GSD pretty late in the evening. I wouldn't despair if you haven't heard anything yet. I'm sure that she is very busy and just calls people whenever she has a spare moment. Good luck to everybody and i think they sent out snail mail today. So, everyone should know one way or another sometime next week. I'm also MArch I. Congratulations to everybody that heard back from UCLA today.
Just received acceptance to Cincinnati 4+ in the mail this morning. Thin envelope, woohAAA!. Hoping Priority Mail is still on it's way to Brighton, MA! Congrats M A.
when i visted harvard, i felt like i stepped into colonial america. i dont know, i just wasnt feeling it. but NYC has life about it that cant be beat. too bad chicago doesnt have a school really worth going to...
amanning - I think you need not worry about your GRE score - there doesn't seem to be any sort of correlation between your score and whether you get accepted to programs.
Congrats M^2... I hope to hear something soon! It is killing me waiting for the first acceptance/rejection. I might actually swing by work today and check my email account there! Now that is wishful thinking and probably would be a waste of my lesiure time!
Hey -- for those who already heard from Columba M. Arch I, was there any info on financial aid in your envelope? I haven't heard anything, which is a bit scary ...
Wow. This thread is throwing me back ten years. I understand the stress, but, know that it's not where you go for grad school, but what you make of it whereever you land.
You will create many more opportunities for yourself by blitzkreiging your respective program with high energy and no regrets.
I heard from Syracuse through the mail, RISD called my house, and Cornell called my cell... then again I applied to M.LA programs, so it could be completely different.
I received an acceptance letter from Columbia for MArch I with a 12k scholarship, and the email from UCLA on friday, it must have been the luck of the irish or something. I'm so relieved!
Either this was the cruelest prank ever, or I just received a a call from Toshiko Mori. Accepted to GSD for MArch I.
Whoa . . . shock has still not worn off.
samsonoio---you went to berkeley for architecture right? so that means you got in advanced placement? thats a good thing--wont have to pay for that extra year---3.5 years of tuition at the gsd is a killer.
accepted to grad schools yet?

congrats MArch06...sweet relief :)
8888, yeah i got that one from UW (seattle) too.... definately put some ideas into the ol' head...
Got the UW email, and then got my rejection in the mail. Yay :(
The letter said they had over 5000 applicants for 50 spots
dusty, thanks, at least i know i'm not alone... this is like the calm before the storm.... the only thing i got since tuesday are my portfolios from princeton (i applied last year too), and that didn't really make my day...
acceptance from UW! hurrah!
Is it the general concensus that no call from GSD by now = rejection?
not necessarily. maybe its on a rolling basis like GSAAP? Although, at this point, Im thinking rejection on my part, but thats just my intuition based on previous rejections.

8888... How did you hear from UW? Mail? Phone? Email?
All my app. mail is going to my parent's place and they are away for the week. I'm going bonkers!
And yupper: really 5000 apps? can't be true..... eitherway I'm not getting my hopes up

mab82 i got that email from UT also.
pete it was a slim envelope but i could feel that it had multiple pieces of paper in it.
So does no email mean you didn't get into UCLA? And has anyone heard from Cal or MIT yet?
also any information on the size of those programs or PennDesign?
regarding gsd/ gsapp --

the huge package from the gsd just arrived. prioity mail. again, i'm in cambridge, but they should make it to other places in just a couple days...
MA thanks for letting us know, Im sure I wont get till Tuesday here in the SW. Did you get financial info?
I received admission to UVA's M.Arch program and MSAUD in Columibia last week. Both of them r one year program, neither of them offered any money.

Does UC honestly expect a response by March 24th?
10k scholarship from columbia, 21k from gsd... new york is sounding more and more enticing though... should i resign myself to staying in cambridge?
when i visted harvard, i felt like i stepped into colonial america. i dont know, i just wasnt feeling it. but NYC has life about it that cant be beat. too bad chicago doesnt have a school really worth going to...
Matthew A, which program in columbia did you get into?
GRE 1190 writing 4
Got into Yale & UMich so far ...
For those of you accepted to UCLA what program did you apply to?
FYI GRE - 1100 and 6
Do you think that will cut it for any of the schools? GSAAP, UCLA., GSD, Sci-ARc ???
I am getting really nervous because I haven't heard a peep from ANYONE!!!!!
amanning - I think you need not worry about your GRE score - there doesn't seem to be any sort of correlation between your score and whether you get accepted to programs.
I also got the UCLA e-mail yesterday. I am proof that GRE doesn't mean a thing and portfolio is everything. I scored just under 1000 and 4.
I'm also waiting on GSAAP & SCI-arc but acceptance to UCLA feels great.
1320 GRE... and i got no email from UCLA...
GRE scores dont seem to matter much.
Congrats M^2... I hope to hear something soon! It is killing me waiting for the first acceptance/rejection. I might actually swing by work today and check my email account there! Now that is wishful thinking and probably would be a waste of my lesiure time!

GRE 1340, 4 <-- though still means nothing.

Wow, 16k from Columbia? They made it sound like they hardly had anything to offer in the way of grants. (Congrats, btw!)
that's right, the +quilla in manilla, ladies and gentlemen. damn buddy.

Haven't heard anything about acceptance/rejection from SCI-ARc yet, but I did recieve a financial aid / scholarship packet.
I heard from Syracuse through the mail, RISD called my house, and Cornell called my cell... then again I applied to M.LA programs, so it could be completely different.

Congrats va bene, samsonoio and beavercleaver!!
It's good to hear acceptances are still going out, there's still hope for any of us still waiting for some of the hold-outs!
