The Scott Stapp voice. That constipated tone that was really popular in the late 90s early 00s that is finally going away.
Late 90s rappers that basically sampled an entire song and just changed a few words. Associated with those songs were the annoying videos that typically took place on a yacht, were sepia toned and just had a bunch of booty hoes dancing around.
Rap metal: especially Linkin Park. If I hear one more person say that Chester has a great voice, I don't know what I will do.
Using the studio to make up for lack of skill. Seeing live performers who on recordings substituted skill with studio trickery can be a big disappointment.
I really hate how all the really old musicians get all the record deals because they're the ones with all the money and power.... what?...oh...er -- wrong thread, sorry.
oh, one more. back up vocal tracks. you know the things that singers use to make it sound like they are singing when they can't sing because they are so out of breath from dancing. just stop dancing damn it.
or maybe they just can't sing al la ashley simpson.

key changes in general. i dont have a problem with them in larger compositions, but if you need to change keys for the final chorus of a 3 min song, then you really have problems.

*from the anotomy of a crowd pleezing band on the 18 th leg of their US tour called 'victory tour'.. that is victory for orginizers and record companies and the band members who needed the money desperatly.
annoying musical conventions
large numbers of people singing in unison in rock/pop songs, particularly children
belly-buttons
cameos
I dont udnerstand why dont they just make their sets 2-3 songs longer.
angst
singers that warble their voice.
man my mind is fried this morning, I meant encores although cameos can be annoying too.
Kenny Rogers and Wyclef Jean can only spell disaster.
i second angst. and emo in general.
and I don't mind encores. for cinematic effect.
End of song fade-outs. C'mon just use some ingenuity and end the song definitively.

bridge to keychange chorus to "step it up a notch". come on. so played out.
not a convention per se but it seems to be happening more and more rhyming a word with the same word the next line
empassioned, "this is our best show ever, you guys rock" lines. shut up. that's up to me to decide. not you.

Throwing half full beer bottles at the stage on a Saturday Night in Livingston....
