For a project I'm doing, I'm interested in learning what people think are the most outstanding and innovative examples of student housing/dormitory design, both building and campus planning scales, internationally and both built/unbuilt.
Wow.. thanks Steven. I just looked it up on the web. $12,000,000 for 330 beds.. $36,000/bed, $110/sq ft. Is that right? That's phenomenal (1/7th the psf cost of Simmons/Holl)
lewistsurmakilewis just did one
machado and silvetti have a few better than average ones
several new dorm projects have used Leed well i just can't name any of them
kieran timberlake does them well just finished the first phase of a decent set at cornell
business school dorms @ harvard (alston branch-southside!) machado silvetti's
"special kids" dorm @ uva, williams + tsein's
married dorms also @ harvard, jl sert
there is a small area outside of freiburg (germany) called vauban (after the french engineer) which has a plethora of exquisute student living quarters. however, i don't know the ease of finding anything outside of germany.

Thanks.
Holl = frightfully expensive (mention it and clients run for cover)
IHouse, in the Safdie-designed Eleanor Roosevelt College at UCSD is pretty cool.
willow street dorms by scogin elam at tulane university are a different take: apartment/townhouse-ish.
