Just an idea.... what if we could create space among our neighbors to justify racial difference and bringing the cultures together? I would say... using one of the public park or churches in our neighbor as a designated places to create museum and playground to bring the city people together.
It seems that cultural centers, which were the vogue in older decades (and maybe now in Guadalajara, Mexico), have recently seemed to entail some of level of separation from the city, and some level of grandeur. Both of these seem incompatible with your idea. Perhaps this is the difference between a cultural center and a community center?
the only space needed to bring cultures together is the eight inches between the ears, and seems to be getting more (collectively) more fucked up by the day.
moreover, the city by and of itself used to do an excellent job of just such a thing until people started creating such hogwash as spaces dedicated for specific functions, i.e., civic space, commercial space, recreational space, residential space, etc.
space died and people stopped being together as soon as we started "creating" space
