Archinect Avatars

coquette

Puh-lease! Avatars would suu-uck on the discusssion boards. I like the idea of going to someone's profile to find out more about them, if I am first intriged by their comments. If you want that kind of cheeze...go to friendster! Before you know it you'd have a headshots of every other butthole architect in designer eyewear. Please don't go there!

Aye, signatures would be bad. I'm not keen on the ranking thing either. If it just goes by number of posts alone, then it's hardly a good indication of anything. The decent comments often come from the folk who don't have a great deal of time to be pottering around on forums all day, no matter how great they might be!
While we're at it, no graphic smiley icons either :D.

I'm definitely up for anonymous comments and threaded discussions, but that really doesn't seem to be the trend right now. I think the anonymity's often a no no if there are legal hassles - you can't ban people - but of course somebody can always sign up for another account. Not sure why threading hasn't been adopted by the big bb people - vBulletin and ezboard etc. - maybe just 'cause the data structure is a little more complicated.
The anonymity and the threading lead to some of the most bizzare, tangential discussions. Just look at Usenet.

NO!
NO! NO!

open up the profile segment for the veveeta graphics.
besides most of the time it has nothing to do with identity, its a matter of discussion, a collective discussion. i rarley notice who says what unless it really catches my attention. and i hate to see that change.

+ i have ADD so if you plop some avatars its going to be like trying to pay attention to a lecture in the middle of a circus in here.

without the "*" at the end.

I wasn't trying to be a jerk, I thought that was the solution... the message board parses your [size=] into <font size=> when you look at the source code... thanks for posting the real solution, though.

overrated movie, overrated avatar. the only funny moment was when he shocked his nuts thinking he would go back in time.

in hinduism, an avatar is the incarnation/bodily manifestation of an immortal being, or of the ultimate supreme being. an avatar can be referred as one who comes to earth in response to humanity’s call when there is a certain level of stagnation.

an avatar also refers to the descent of a higher consciousness; it need not necessarily be a spiritual being. for instance, we can think of gandhi as an avatar of non-violence and einstein as an avatar of physics and that any higher consciousness taking birth can be called an avatar.

so i guess i'd be FOR an archinect avatar...y' know?
