I'm standing here in my kitchen thinking to myself: I don't know that I can name a single new "good" architect from the last decade-plus. Is it like music, where we stop liking new things after 20ish? I'd like to think that's not the case, but I can't and that's why I'm here.
Fellow Archinectors, if you'll do me the indulgence of posting really great, recent work, and preferably by up-and-coming or lesser-known firms building up their portfolios.
Oh! I just thought of one! In my home country, no less (no professional or personal associations at all, I just like their work):
He's like the light force to Neri Oxmans dark force - doing super cool.and real projects involving 3d printing social organizations and vernacular architecture.
Seriously though, I think 10-15 years is just a short frame of time to really make a name for yourself the good way as an architect. I can come up with many more firms I really like that were founded from the mid 90s on, but I don't think it's because they are fundamentally better.
Anyway, here are a few founded in the last 15 years that I quite like. You’ve probably heard of DB, but to my point, they are the oldest from 2010:
That's what I'm saying though. Go back and start at 2000 and there are a lot of firms. You also start getting into firms that will pop up as global star firms like BIG, or firms in contention for Pritzker prizes like Adjaye Associates.
3144 was founded in 2010. I think that works for this tread :)
To your point above, it is quite rare for an office these days to go beyond concept proposals, pavilions, or furniture scale projects, to have built work in the first decade of their existence.
That being said, I do hope people populate this thread with more examples...
That’s maybe a slight undersell. Most people who started firms from when I graduated do architecture scale, it’s just typically smaller stuff, and not the sort of thing
that’s making headlines.

Austin Maynard has some pretty cool stuff out there. On insta he also does a travel segment with a colleague visiting cool new-ish architecture.
On youtube as well, the channel "Never too small" highlights small residential spaces transformed or retrofitted by local designers - very cool.
