I’m about to complete my masters in architecture in the uk and I’m thinking of moving to the USA or Canada to work but have no clue how to go about it. Could anyone with experience of doing this help?
I looked at doing an internship to get a job first then transferring my credentials over to the accreditation body to then be able to be registered.
I’d like advice on the most efficient way to go about this.
That's not how it works in Canada and unlikely for the US.
If interested in Canada, you need to make sure your M.arch is accredited/accepted under the CACB. That is step one.
Once that is completed, you can then apply for intern status with whatever province you want to work/live in. After that, it's just a matter of finding a mentor and completing the minimum experience hours while working in a licensed architecture office. Then you can write your exams and register as an architect.
But you don't need any of this if all you're after is a job.
