I'm applying to grad programs soon, and trying to decide between a master of landscape architecture and an urban planning degree that offers courses in urban design. I'm more interested in the type of work that landscape architects do, and I think I would enjoy that program more. But I think planning might be a better return on investment. It looks like planners make slightly more on average and have a better job outlook, even though it requires two years of school and no license instead of three years following by three years of interning to get a license for LA.
I'm curious if anyone knows the earning potential of a licensed landscape architect compared to an urban planner, and has any input on whether it's worth it to take on the extra schooling and expense. Thanks!
