Boards of Canada have a great new interactive web presence, for those who haven't checked it out. Features lots of ultra-chilled sounds a la "A Beautiful Place Out in the Country."
P.S. for BOC fans who haven't ever heard Stephen Halpern's "Spectrum Suite" album from the mid-70s, take heed. It's basically the sonic pallette BOC have been biting since their debut.
I am very glad to see that lot of people here are listening Aphextwin, Boards of Canada, Plaid.....I can add to this list some of my favorites like Autechre, Oval, Mouse on Mars, Orbital, FSOL......but currently i am chilling me down with this:

If you kiddies want to know what architecture school was like back in the day or if all you geezers my age want to feel nostalgic, blow the dust off those Future Sound of London cd's. Papua New Guinea was my favorite. what was yours?

Yessah, American Football is great. In the same vein of "you've probably heard," try Owen, the Statistics, Despistado, Jawbreaker, and Jets to Brazil. Actually, just about anything from Jade Tree tends to work pretty well... You might also try Q and Not U, who I heard for the first time last night while cleaning the house I just moved out of.

Picked up the new modest mouse yesterday, friend told me about it and i really like the cover (I seem to only buy cd's for the cover otherwise public library!) Its good but i have little experience with previous albums so i couldnt tell you to get it or not. It is not "polished" by any of the mainstream standards.

good news for new fans, bad news for old fans who don't want to admit that they still like us
i think the cheaply priced, well marketed cd is bringing modest mouse in to the 5 second spotlight of the music industry.
what the hell is up with re-releasing this is a long drive..., moon and antarctica? since when do albums get re-released 3 years after they originally come out?
I believe the story was that they weren't happy with the way the originals turned out in the mix, so they wanted to re-release to get things sounding different/better. So I've heard, anyway...

I picked up Neil Diamonds Greatest Hits today. BRILLIANT. I would like the current rash of "indie bands" to be thrown in a chipper shreader. This would include Modest Mouse, The Strokes, The Stills, Franz Ferdinand, Jet, and the new crappy version of Incubus (yeah, I know these bands aren't new, but they all crapped into the mainstream at once and now it sucks). Additionally, the 'cut and paste' style videos that they all seem to have needs to go too. It was cool when Incubus did it (I think thier's was the first to come out), but now Franz and Modest Mouse have almost identical videos. It's as bad as when all rap videos featured speed boats, stretch SUVs and sepia toned film. Hopefully something good will come out of this current musical climate.
