Renovated from a pre-World War II factory in the hutong area of Beijing, this theater was made for the Beijing Modern Dance Group, an internationally well-known, avant-garde performing group.
Its unique geographic location makes this a welcoming performing center for the people, as well as the artist elites. Developed together with a practice facility, a restaurant and a central coutyard, this has becoming the new 798 of Beijing, one that is accessible to average citizens and students.
In 2009 this project was named one of the top 8 global performing center by Architype Review.
It is noteworthy the project was done with minimal budget; and is a project that will evolve with time.
