The Big G Museum was designed to be an art exhibition / trade center accessible from the International Airport in Beijing.
The building's main structure is concrete, shielding the interior from the noise and pollution of the airport traffic. Yet, the unique shape of the building makes it accessible from the main road and adjacent plazas - its central courtyard an ideal space for large scale events and out door exhibitions.
From the air it is both elegant and recognizable; as the museum will serve as the landmark for a series of cultural and logistic developments near the Beijing Airport.
This was the chosen scheme from 5 competing entrees, all from prominent Chinese architects.
Status: Competition Entry
