In this garden, completed 2012, the client’s desire for a water feature to be on axis with the doors to the living room, generated the most striking aspect of the concept: the gabion rock composition serving as a base for the water feature. The budget was so constrained that OCD knew there could be no water feature large enough in scale to to have any effect on the rear wall—75 ft. in length—and an existing purple-painted color. Elsewhere, Miro-like shapes serve as planting beds in a DG landscape; they’re arranged specifically to facilitate circulation through the garden, in which the client often entertains.
