Most striking from this small representation of a 16,000 sq. ft. property—unusually large for a fast food chain—are the belts of bioswales surrounding the restaurant. They serve three essential purposes: to channel rain water drainage from the building top, to act as planting beds (almost everything is otherwise gravel), and to act as security buffers vis-à-vis possible vehicular terrorist attacks, since the restaurant will principally be serving U.S. Servicemen and their families.
