The garden, completed in 2007, measures roughly 13 ft. wide by 65 ft. long, and the design accentuates its most obvious characteristic—length—while also allowing for rhythmic punctuations in its linearity. The narrow confines of the garden—further exaggerated by the parallel 40 ft. long covered terrace—are both highlighted and massaged, so that the existing condition is acknowledged and optimized. Existing stands of 40 yr old birch trees at either end of the garden anchor the design.
