Harvey Road is a thoughtful renovation of a terraced house in Crouch End, London, reinterpreting the ground floor to foster a more connected and functional living space. The original floor plan, which focused on the street frontage, was rearranged to emphasize a relationship with the rear garden. The deep layout is reorganized into two complementary zones: a dynamic ‘garden room’ at the rear that accommodates daily activities, and a more tranquil, intimate drawing room at the front. This spatial reorganization maximizes natural light and creates a continuous flow between indoor and outdoor spaces.
The design integrates oak-clad structural elements and bespoke furniture, creating a cohesive material palette that enhances the feeling of warmth and permanence. The central portion of the house accommodates the more utilitarian areas, allowing the two main living spaces to remain serene and free of distraction. Harvey Road exemplifies a refined approach to family living, where architectural form is shaped to encourage engagement with the surrounding environment. It combines thoughtful spatial planning with a material palette that speaks to both modern sensibilities and timeless elegance.
