Studying the paradigms, style and drawing technique of a selected architect, we were tasked with creating a pavilion at the Home Of The Arts, in the Gold Coast.
Inspired by Shigeru Ban’s natural, organic forms as well as his use of cardboard tubes as a material, I designed a pavilion where people can re-connect with nature as well as appreciate the outdoor artwork of HOTA.
The open-air pavilion allows users the freedom to wander around, through the pavilion, appreciating the artwork and natural site. The pavilion plays on the notion of permanence vs. temporary and allows a variety of permanent spaces as compared to adjustable tube ‘panels’.
