The five story, 63,000 SF, concrete and masonry structure was constructed in 1927. From 1971 to 2001 it served as a convent and Mother House for the Ursuline Sisters of Paola, Kansas. The structure was completely remodeled in 2001 to provide for modern single occupancy rooms with individual bathrooms. Revisions were made to bring the facility into compliance with the current Americans with Disabilities Act, International Building Code, and the NFPA Life Safety Code. The mechanical and electrical systems were upgraded, office areas were remodeled and the overall building from the lower level to the top floor was given a face lift.
The 2001 work on the facility was completed in phases to allow for occupancy and continued operations during the entire remodeling process.
