Named after the fictional Colombian village in Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s 1967 novel “One hundred years of solitude”, Macondo serves up Latin American street food. We divided the room into three distinct sections. Up front, a storefront window reveals suspended baskets filled with fresh coconuts and pineapples as well as rope netting as a screen. The middle section features retrostyle chair with adjustable armrests and bar stools with gel cushions. In the back, a dining area with modular booth seating enclosed by an ivy-covered trellis and a Barrisol ceiling with color changeable LED.
Unconventional approaches of material evoke the feeling of a Latin, bustling streetscape. The ceiling is covered with wood chipboard that we typically see at the construction site. Tables and banquette are made out of salvaged wood as well as wood chipboard. Inspired by the natural landscape, salvaged wood cover the bar die with random like stripe pattern. Floor and bar countertop are custom colored and are textured to fit the restaurant look
