The surrounding areas of Cornfields of Arroyo Seco has demonstrated a need for a community cultural center. The proposal presented suggests the creation of a cultural center containing recreational park space, community gallery spaces, community multipurpose rooms, a community theater, a community market place/ plaza, retail space, affordable housing units, a swell as a linkage to the Los Angeles River. The site location is wedged and surrounded by multiple historical components of the community like the Broadway and Spring Street bridges that cross the River and also the historic buildings on Baker Street built in the 1800’s. The Proposal takes all of these components into consideration
and treats each one with sensitivity and adds a gestural canopy component intended to attract people to activate the proposed space .
