Landmark Sears

Originally built in Boyle Heights in 1927, with 9 subsequent additions, the building housed 1.8 million sf of warehouse and retail, serving as a distribution center for the west, one of nine in the US.

The program consisted of:

  • Core-and-shell retail and dining on the ground floor, including a food hall
  • Extensive outdoor dining, gathering and activity areas 
  • The Sears store remains in place
  • C&S creative offices on the 2nd and 3rd floors
  • Residential units on floors 4-10
  • Residential tenant amenities on roof, including a clubhouse/gym and pool 
  • Event space at the base of the tower
  • Penthouse residential unit at the top of the tower

Firm: Omgivning | Role: Project Lead in charge of overall set and permitting. Development and detailing of occupied roof, rooftop addition, and site design. Overall Structural & MEP coordination.
