On a bed of California stars I'd like to lay my weary bones tonight

Last semester I met this girl who was named after a Bob Dylan song, which I must say was quite appealing, and she was one of the most interesting people I've met since coming to Boston, as well as one of the beautiful, which she knows, and I saw her for the first time in a long time tonight and based on a discussion we had decided to put this up here. Without saying anything more, it was great to see her again, and I hope she stays in Boston past this semester and adds some interest to the vast blandness of some of the people all around. (I chose the title because I love using lyrics as subject lines and I love Woody Guthrie and Wilco, and so I love this song and she also happens to be from California, so it seems to fit. Again without saying anything that should be read into).

I lived in Boston for five years and although I liked the city a lot, it was an incredibly difficult place to meet people. I always liked to blame it on some puritan leftovers instead of my anti-social tendencies.

That has to be one of the most beautiful songs ever written. It reminds me of my son for two reasons: I saw Wilco perform it when I was 3 months pregnant with him (first concert in-utero!), and then I mis-heard the lyric as "I love to feel your head touching mine" (not hand) when he was weeks old and sleeping with his little head against mine and I started weeping with joy. It's universally loved, I think.

yeah. I love both those cds and i think mountain bed is great. i've liked both Wilco and Billy Bragg for a long time, and i've really grown to admire Woody Guthrie recently. the music by all three is phenomenal in each's own right.
