    Gallery/Garden

I am currently in a state of mental exhaustion, lots to do, so little time to do it. Why oh why did I decide to go part-time. Actually enough of the whining, I'm loving this and I'm not ashamed to admit it...

This week I have been mostly working on the Gallery/Garden Project a very interesting one if I may say so. This is the second attempt as the first one was a load of rubbish, which my lecturer promptly told me so... fiddlesticks.

Anyway this is a brief description of my concept:

Random stone structures rise upward out of the river providing support for the slabs of the gallery. The shapes of the slabs are random to reflect the randomness of the water, all the shapes reflect also the flow of the river. The river starts at a high point with a large first drop, providing the sound and speed of the water (as well as providing energy - hydorelectricity = sustainability), the river then is slowed and goes over a smaller drop, providing a quieter more serene place, a contrast to the crash and bang of the waterfall.

The height of each structure is also random, with taller, larger objects at the top, sloping downward to smaller objects at the end.

The slabs are also arranged at random levels with no or a small portion of them overlapping, meaning the whole area is created by open spaces, primary slabs contain the exhibition, secondary slabs contain the garden, and tertiary slabs providing a sensory experience, made of glass, see through mesh, etc. Views of the garden, exhibition of the river should be seen from every slab. Some slabs are low and close to the water and waterfall, allowing the user to experience the water closely.

Here is an concept breakdown image... thanks to my trusty companion Sketchup (god I love student licenses, top software, cheap price)
