We focused on the area near the palace, the old Jewish quarter (Oberberg) and in particular Meiehof which hosted the old barns of the palace.. A medieval quarter organized in a knit web that has managed to keep up today. The aspiring goal is to discover the hidden history of a plurality rich region and to "resurrect" the lost urbanity, giving her a new role in the city
Empty buildings in the area offer a great opportunity for new uses. Apart from changes in the programmatic level, trying to create new open spaces in a continuous dialogue between private and public, we make an extensive pedestrianisation to set the boundaries of the neighborhood. The pole of culture is emphasized by the "platform" that connects the different museums of the area and acquire a single entry from the Glorietteallee signifying the element of water. To the south of the Jewish Quarter, Wiener strasse, the once noisy urban routes transformed with the introduction of trams in an easy access to shopping center and the main pedestrian street.
In addition to large scale interventions we choose to do several small "vaccination" in order to restore the old forces and relations in the region and perhaps to stimulate further the consistency. Beside the tables of the principles of urban architecture (civile) to the grammar of forms, which dominated the Design of the historic city, we find, now, with new tables and new urban typologies and the resurgence of old. How public access and entry or common synefrefsis ways: 1) extensions to existing shell 2) paratiritiria with views across the city 3) bridges that connect different applications together 4) stairs leading directly to the street to the public 5) air links between the museums of the region. All this will be a new vocabulary of architecture of the city and the way we combine and functions that serve or link to them, giving each time a new type. On the other hand, there were barns area production and storage of production. Today, the palace takes cultural character, the role of the warehouses can be left as a space-file: library gardens. A historic museum gardens that we call the library because we want to emphasize the relationship attempts to fit the audience: an interactive relationship, cultural. The space next to the barns, will be developed and will accept minor structures will act in cooperation with the museum garden, and will undertake to accommodate visitors, researchers or listeners conferences. The construction will be ephemeral in nature and can be changed depending on the needs of the region leaving more or less free space.
