ARCHITECTURAL STUDIO 6A: PEDESTRIANS’ BRIDGE IN A RAILWAY CROSSING

The course’s main objective was the architectural manufacture through the approach of designing and constructing a model. The issue was to plan and  construct a pedestrians bridge in scale 1-50. The city St. Stefanos Attica is separated in two settlements because of the railway lines. The municipality in order to connect the two districts, studies the covering of the train lines  in the long term. But in first phase it intends to manufacture a bridge for pedestrians in the department where the lines are in lower level, so that it connects immediately the two broken away departments of the settlement.
The proposal was inspired by the installation that the artists Christo made in Central Park of New York, widely known as “The Gates”.The bridge is constituted by metal shields that support and surround a vague wooden form.
