Built over 60 years ago, the Washington Houses Community Center is the main location for all of Union Settlement’s Youth Services programming. The renovation of the facility will modernize all learning spaces and offices and update restrooms, building systems, windows, roof and interior finishes. Rejecting the notion that a limited budget means limited design, the project focuses on creating a few select high-impact interventions throughout the building that will significantly enhance a person’s user experience including a redesigned entry that will let the center communicate a more open invitation to the neighborhood.
