A 31,000 SF, 6-story, 7-unit luxury mid-rise residential building located in Manhattan’s Greenwich Village Historic District (cross streets between: 8th Avenue & Greenwich Ave). This project was in collaboration with London-based designer David Chipperfield Architects for the client Edward J. Minskoff. The first two stories consist of two duplex maisonettes with rear gardens, followed by apartment units from the 3rd floor and up and a penthouse with roof garden. The site was previously the location of a 1920's 2-story public parking garage. A portion of the proposed cellar maintains this existing garage use. The project is considered an alternation (ALT-1) and addition, approved by the Landmark’s Preservation Commission. To blend within the context of the early 19th to mid 20th century townhouses and apartment buildings in the neighborhood, the building was artfully clad with a combination of red custom handmade Roman (Kolumba) brick, red pigmented precast panels and bronze window & door frames and railings. The interior features materials such as terrazzo flooring in the communal areas, wide plank natural white oak and Carrara marble.
